Relish Organics is owned and operated by Carmel and Luke Oglethorpe-Burton.
A Little History
Relish Organics was born out of humble beginnings with the ambition of bringing a much needed range of fresh organic
wholefoods and groceries to the Gold Coast. In 2004, Relish Organics began retailing a small range of certified organic
dry goods and grocery lines every Sunday at the
The Organic Gold Coast Farmers Market.
Over the next few years, Relish expanded into offering a comprehensive selection of organic and biodynamic dairy products.
The most recent addition has been a varied selection of bulk wholefoods designed for self service. This unique approach at
an outdoor market has proven to be a big hit with organic food lovers as customers can help themselves to as much or as
little as they like (not to mention the added benefits of reducing, recycling and shopping out in the fresh air!)
At Relish Organics, quality is a priority and the products are always fresh and delicious. In addition, Australian grown
and produced products are always given preference over imported goods. Certified organic wholefoods such as stone-ground
flours, raw nuts, and sulphur free dried fruits are just the beginning of what you might find at Relish Organics. There are
also treats such as date and almond rolls and a range of organic Swiss chocolates available in bulk to satisfy your soul
food cravings!
In spring 2006, Relish Organics is set to launch an exciting new location to buy organic food on the Gold Coast at its

Our goal is to make a real difference. A real difference to the way organic food is perceived, a difference to the
lives and health of our customers and a difference to the ultimate future of our planet. This involves providing food
that nurtures health and respects the earth. We also aim to encourage growth and education by connecting people with
like-minded individuals and professional services in the industry.
Because we believe in thinking globally and acting locally, many of our stocked products are purchased direct from
local organic growers.

Get to know a little bit about the people behind Relish Organics:
Carmel
Having a life long interest in healthy living and eating right, getting into organics was a natural
progression for Carmel. Carmel has studied Nutrition at the Australian College of Natural Medicine and has
worked at markets and in the organic industry in various roles since 2002.
Carmel’s background in social work and social justice has driven her to make organic products as affordable
as possible for individuals and families and does not believe that it should be a luxury only afforded to the
wealthy. Why should anyone miss out on the most wholesome, delicious food in its most natural form!?
Luke
Luke began working in the IT industry in 1999 and has since co-founded Relish Organics with Carmel.
His real passions in life are music and food and he is constantly seeking quality in both. It is for this reason
he has enjoyed learning about and eating organic food for many years and has a keen interest in its all-round
benefits. He also wants to see organic made a real food option for everyone.
He has managed the market stall with Carmel since its inception and is now set to co-manage and work in their
organic retail store as well.
